There are a lot of great tanning salons out there. However some are better than others. Here are some of the things you should look for when choosing a salon:
Reputation:
Does the salon have a reputable name and operating history? Check Tanning.com to view ratings of Salons.
Recommendations:
Talk to people you know and trust who have used local tanning salons. If they have had great experiences at a salon you are interested in you would likely get the same results.
Equipment:
Find out how new their equipment is, and more importantly ask how often they change out their bulbs. It is important that the salon offer several different levels of services – there should be high-end high-pressure UVA beds and a choice of conventional UVB beds.
If you are interested in sunless tanning be sure that the salon has the most modern equipment and be sure that the salon uses the solution specified by the manufacturer (high-end equipment using low-grade tanning solutions will not give you the results you are looking for).
Cleanliness:
Walk through the salon. Are the tanning rooms clean and orderly? Are the restrooms clean? Does the salon clean the beds between each use?
Friendliness:
You most likely visit you salon on many occassions. Having nice people at the salon makes the experience a lot more enjoyable.
Packages/Specials:
Compare tanning packages. Most salons offer discounts for multi-session packages or monthly/yearly membership subscriptions. Paying for your tanning in advance often times gets you the best pricing.
Sometimes salon pricing packages can be confusing. A helpful staff will properly explain how the pricing and discounting works. If you can’t understand the pricing or feel pressured into signing a long-term commitment you are not comfortable with you should probably look elsewhere.
Did You Know?
There are more than 25,000 free standing tanning salons in North America. In addition to these salons, you can find over 20,000 tanning facilities located in health spas, gyms, hotels, nail shops, and other locations.
