Should You Tan before Your Travels Or Winter Beach Vacation?

Is it a good idea to get a suntan before your winter vacation? The short answer is not really.

Some people will tell you that if you are coming from a dull gray winter climate, that you are "ripe" for sunburn. Get your skin ready so to speak and as well keep the hordes of t-shirt souvenir salespeople from being attracted to the paleness of your skin as a sure mark - on the foreign marketplace.

For the most part, as a traveler to a warm sunny place, from the cold climes it is a matter of fairly simple as well as standard advice. The most important precaution is to pack a large as well as adequate supply of a sunscreen sun barrier product that provides a SPF ( that is sun protection factor) in the ranges of 15 to 25 times. Of course for your personal preferences choose a product that suits you cosmetically as well by smell, appearance and overall scent or odor. Just to be sure, one last time, make sure to verify the protection level by reassuring yourself by reading the product ingredients and label one last time before you make your purchases at your local pharmacy or big box store outlet before you purchase the item and pack for your travels.

You may well be driving down the street back home, getting ready for your travels and spot trendy advertisements with young beautiful models sporting a tan, all for a commercial ad for a "tanning salon". You may well think - why not, after all soon I will be in the strong sunlight anyway, on my travels on the beach or even on walks, and excursions to the market. Are these tanning salons any worse than simple strong sunlight in the tropics?

It can be said that sun-bed tanning salon courses of "tanning" are basically artificial and offer only a small amount, if any protection against from UV ultra violet sun shine ray elements. However you can count on some premature early aging of your skin and increased incidences of pre-cancerous skin damage especially in those that are fair skinned to begin with.

On top of that you can count on the occurrences of some of what can be called "annoying" side effect of artificial tanning sessions that occur after "treatments" in tanning "salons'. These include - dry, red skin, itchiness, freckling. Others who are on various medications have reported drug induced rashes, rough as well as blistering skin, odd rashes out of nowhere, and also more easily bruised and sensitive skin. The skin is after all the largest organ of your body. One other option for those do wish to appear "tanned' for their expeditions might be the various over the counter creams which basically dye your skin from a whiter to a more tanned tint. Watch out though for products those leave you with a somewhat red or even orange glow. You might never live that down with a new date on the beach.

In the end it can be said that in dealing with matters of your health that it always best to take a more conservative as well as tried and true method and methodology. If you do not have your health, then you do not have "anything". On top of that a sick traveler can never enjoy themselves or get full value from their vacation or overseas trip.
